H. Robert "Bob" Jacobs

H. Robert Jacobs of Downers Grove, age 83, died on Thursday November 26, 2009. Memorial visitation was held at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Home on Monday November 30, 2009.

Bob served in the Army Aircorps Cadet program in 1944. Upon leaving the Army he joined the

Evening Kiwanis Club of Downers Grove, where he was instrumental in initiating the Downers Grove High School Band exchange program in 1985. From 1993 to 2006, Bob served on the Legislative Committee of Downers Grove Grade School District 58 where he was honored as an Outstanding Citizen. As a cancer surviver, he supported and participated in the Relay for Life fund raisers along with the Kiwanis Club of Downers Grove at the Downers Grove South High School where over $50,000 was raised in 2006.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Grace, his six children Susan, Richard, Theresa, Robert, John and Thomas Jacobs, and his thirteen grandchildren Marc, Bradley, Kristin, Joseph, Alexandra, Marissa, Logie, John, Hannah, Clare, Rachel, Jared and Emma and his great-grandchild Ryan.
