| THIS WEEK IN KIWANIS 3/14/07
This past Wednesday at Kiwanis we had 9 members attend. We also had an inter-club visit from the Lombard Club, and a member of the Addison Club delivered the gavel for Waring to open. After opening several boxes Waring found the gavel (in pieces!). Topics discussed include: SEASPAR Dance. Saturday, March 24 SEASPAR presents Johnny Rogers, America's premier Buddy Holly performer in a tribute to Buddy Holly and a young Elvis Presley. Tickets are $20.00/person and are available at SEASPAR (Park District Rec Center, 4500 Belmont), or through Lisa Rasin. Kiwanis 60th Anniversary Celebration will be April 24, 2007 at the Finley Grill Room. More information coming. Inter-Club scheduled for 3/20 at Elmhurst. Lisa, Lorie and Waring will be attending. Our speaker was Jim Blair from the Humanitarian Service Project. HSP served 100 families with 4 weeks of groceries during their Christmas Offering HSP served 115 needy seniors with monthly grocery deliveries with their Senior Citizen Project There are 1,100 low-income children in the Children's Birthday Project (we support 6 Downers Grove Children). The Birthday Projects supplies a box of new toys, books, school supplies, stuffed animals and all the fixings for a birthday party. . .cake mix, plates, etc. HSP launched the Feed the Kids Project in 2004. Families receive between 140 and 320 pounds of groceries during the Summer months when kids aren't in school. Volunteer opportunities include: Delivering groceries to seniors once a month Deliver hot meals to seniors on holidays Sort food Select and box birthday gifts Calling seniors before delivery Organize a food or toy drive.
