THIS WEEK IN KIWANIS
CLUB of DOWNERS GROVE
Kiwanis Meeting Doings
Kiwanis Motto: Serving the Children of the World
Hi everyone - Gretchen was nice enough to put together some notes from the July 11th meeting.
See you Wednesday!
Lorie

Hi! Here are some quick notes from our meeting today. 8 members were in attendance with no visitors.

Announcements:
The Woodridge Kiwanis Club is having a golf outing on July 30th at Village Greens to benefit the Special Olympics. It is in conjunction with the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Openings are still available for golfers--$85 including 2 meals, cart, tee gift etc. Let me know if anyone wants to golf. Hole Sponsors are available for $100 each.

Keith Hoffman sent us fliers for the SEASPAR golf outing--but it's this Friday, July 13th. Anyone interested could call Keith.

Please let Waring know if you want to go to the Cougar's game August 27th.

We pretty much have our speakers for the remainder of this Kiwanis year. They are on the Web Site--
7/18--Doyle Heimann--his trip
7/25--Linda Kunze--DG Downtown Merchants
8/8--Sarah Brachle--DuPage Habitat for Humanity
8/15---Amy Liss and Sue Odland--Easter Seals
8/22--Tana Tatnall--Literacy of DuPage
8/29--Leanne --DONKA 9/12--Dr. Adrianna Zabrosky--Wellness and chair massages
9/19---open.............possibilities are Good Sam, The Bonfield Express, Dave Eblen talking about the state of District 99, or info on the Blodgett house.

Curt distributed the July financial/treasurers reports

We discussed not joining the Chamber of Commerce--Governing Board to vote

Boneta gave an update on the Aktion Club--they won three 1st place awards for Speaking, Scrapbook and something else at District competition. Then they did well at International--two 1sts and a second as well. The Salute to Service will have a Bingo night 9/8 for their first fund raiser. We will help them if possible.

I pointed out an article in the last district newsletter about a club in Quincy who did a trivia fund raiser. They made $5K in one night--their second year doing it. We will pursue that and probably need a committee.

Boneta and Gretchen will head up the peanut drive--we need the info so we can begin putting together mailings and contacting folks. We had some good discussion. I was happy with the conversation.........

Thanks, Gretchen
