Each
Year our club conducts three major fund raising activities:
Welcome to Spring Pancake
Day
On Saturday,
May 12th
2007
we held our annual Welcome to Spring Pancake Breakfast in Downers
Grove. We thank those who attended, and hope to see you again next
year. This important
fund raiser helps our club continue its
tradition of service
to the
community. Next year we will again serve
delicious pancakes with butter,
maple syrup and sausages using the facilities
of the Downers Grove Christian School,
929 Maple Ave., Downers Grove
from 7:00 am till noon. We will have regular and decaf coffee, orange
juice and regular and chocolate milk. All this was for only $6 per
adult
and $4 per child under 12 at the door, or you may have bought a
pre-sell ticket from
any Kiwanian for $5
per adult and $3 per child. Come meet your neighbors advance
reservation is not required.
Thanks to our Pancake Day Sponsors,
we offer a $1 discount
coupon. Those sponsors along with our Annual Sponsors
and Peanut Day Sponsors are
recognized with listings on the
place mats used at the pancake day breakfast and throughout the year at
Kiwanis meetings and programs. For all Our Contributors we
also offer to list them on our web site.
Vidalia
Onions
A
popular side
activity to the Pancake Breakfast is the delicious Vidalia
Onion
sales. These sweet
onions are sold in 10 pound bags
for $10
each. If you have never tried them, we have several recipes for
you. Pre-ordering is
required so that we can be sure to have enough
onions for your pick up at the Pancake Breakfast. Should you be unable
to
attend the Pancake Breakfast, local delivery can be arranged.

Peanut Day
September is peanut time. Of
course we get out there and distribute those delicious
salted bags
of
peanuts the fourth week-end of September, but we also sell cases of
100 ¾oz bags of peanuts for only $40 per case. These make a great
gift for your business or for Halloween. We honor those individuals
and businesses who
purchase one or more cases by listing them on the Pancake
Day
place mats which we use throughout the year and offer to place their
name on our web site. If you would
like to order peanuts by the case for the
Fall, please submit your order below
or visit our peanut order page.
We recommend the form on the peanut order page for those who desire a
link to their web site.
We thank all the motorists and commuters who purchased peanuts from us,
but we would especially like to thank the youth groups from St. Mary's
Church, Downers Grove High School Key Club and the Scouts from Troop
84 who help us distribute those
peanuts.

Giveline
The web store specifically designed to support the community by
donating a portion of every purchase to your designated charity.
Giveline is not affiliated with Kiwanis, and we do not provide
any
warranty on their service or merchandise. We do encourage you to check
out the large variety of items they have for sale by using the enclosed
link. This link will direct a portion of your purchase to the Kiwanis
Club of Downers Grove Foundation.
Heritage Festival
We apologize to those who look for our
food booth at the Downers Grove Heritage Festival each
June,
where we served delicious meals
using the meats from Chuck's Meat Market. Chuck's has recently closed,
but the Downers Grove Kiwanis Club will still have an informational
booth in the center of Heritage Festival. Besides being able to tell
you about our club, we have reprinted the Maple
Avenue Historic Walk Booklet for you to enjoy in honor of
Downers Grove's 175th. Anniversary. Look for our club
banner and our Annual Sponsor
Banner. This will be a great opportunity for you to find out
about our club and share in our achievements.
The Kiwanis Club of Downers Grove organizes many fun and interesting
events throughout the year
to benefit our community, our citizens and several local charitable
groups. Visit our Activities page for a
brief listing of those events. For a listing of the charities we
provide and support, visit our Sponsored
Programs page.
